Lawrence M. Hurwitz, CEO
|
A leading electrical industry professional for more than 25 years, Larry Hurwitz has in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Broadway’s operations, having initially served the company in the field as a journeyman electrician, and subsequently as project manager, estimator, Vice President, and now as Chief Executive Officer. In 2009, Mr. Hurwitz established Broadway Renewable Strategies and the Division has grown exponentially in the past 18 months to become a leading provider of solar installations. Mr. Hurwitz is the President of the Boston Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), and is responsible for the oversight of numerous NECA committees, including Finance, Education, and Legislative.

Barbara Hurwitz Farrer,
Treasurer & CFO
Since 1977, Barbara Hurwitz Farrer has served Broadway Electrical with responsibilities that have included contract administration, job cost management, personnel management and benefits, and corporate insurance. A graduate of Colgate University, she has been certified in NECA’s Managing Field Productivity, Change Order Management, and Safety for Electrical Project Managers courses.

Jonathan B. Wienslaw, President
Responsible for Broadway’s operations, Jonathan Wienslaw has more than 30 years of electrical industry experience in the commercial, industrial, power, and transit markets. Prior to his current position, Jonathan served as Sr. Vice President for Mass Electric Corporation for 10 years and also Vice President of L.K. Comstock & Company, Inc. Jonathan’s professional background includes the management of prominent projects within the healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, and institutional sectors. An active leader in the industry, Jonathan presently serves as a Management Trustee for the I.B.E.W. Local 103 Board of Trustees – Health, Welfare, and Pension. He has also served as a Trustee for the Boston Chapter of NECA. Jonathan is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

George Hurwitz, Director, also serves on the Company’s Advisory Staff. Mr. Hurwitz was formerly Broadway Electrical’s President and CEO. He joined the company in 1948 at age 17 and was educated in the electrical trade at Franklin Institute in Boston. George Hurwitz and his brother Mel were instrumental in the Company’s early growth, as Broadway Electrical became one of the most prominent electrical contractors in shopping center and supermarket construction on the East Coast in the 1950s and 1960s.

Joseph H. Matzkin,
Secretary, Corporation Counsel
A partner in the law firm of Looney
& Grossman LLP of Boston,
Attorney Joseph Matkin serves as
Broadway Electrical Corporation’s
Secretary and legal counsel. His
depth of experience in business law
with an emphasis commercial real estate construction spans decades. He is a member of the Massachusetts and American Bar Associations, sections on corporate and real estate law. He received his Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law and has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar since 1970. He is also a trustee and member of the Board of Overseers of Bates College.

Charles “Chuck” Rosenthall,
Safety Director
Responsible for the Company’s Health and Safety Program, Charles “Chuck” Rosenthall has a hands-on approach to the management of Broadway’s comprehensive safety procedures. He provides weekly safety inspections on all active projects to ensure field compliance with all applicable OSHA, company, and contract requirements. Chuck also provides specialized training for employees. He conducts and monitors weekly safety toolbox talks for all projects. Chuck has extensive safety management experience in the construction industry, having worked for as a Senior Site Safety Manager for Modern Continental Construction prior to joining Broadway in 2005.

William P. Wohlfarth,
PE, Utility Services Division and Alternative Energy
William Wohlfarth has more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of professional engineering, design and construction for diverse applications, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, utility power plants, oil refineries, IPP co-generation plants, wastewater treatment facilities, and campus distribution networks. He has performed in multiple capacities for major projects within these markets, including electrical group leader, lead electrical engineer, and senior project manager. He has experience managing and engineering projects for leading regional, national and international institutions, including MIT, Brandeis University, Tufts University, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Mobil Oil, and Dow Corning. With Broadway’s Utility Services Division, which focuses on medium voltage and alternative energy projects, Bill’s responsibilities include customer outreach, quality control, and emerging technologies. He has also formerly served as the President of the Massachusetts Society of Engineers.

Walter Volpe, Chief Estimator
As Broadway Electrical’s Chief Estimator, Walter Volpe has 20 years experience in electrical construction estimating. He has a proven background delivering responsible pricing for complex projects throughout Greater Boston, including W Hotel, Boston, Paramount Theater at Emerson College, Liberty Place, and Boston City Hospital. He is a member of the Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts, National Electrical Contractors Association, and Massachusetts Building Congress. Mr. Volpe formerly served as Vice President and Chief Estimator at Norfolk Electric, Inc. He has a BA from University of Massachusetts.

Bernard Kamp,
Project Manager & Telecommunications Manager
With 15 years project management and field operations experience at Broadway Electrical, Bernard Kamp has provided field supervision for prominent projects the firm has handled throughout the region, including Harvard University Life Science Building, Simmons College Graduate Center, Harvard Business School, Stop & Shop, Braintree, and Harvard Business School Spangler Center. Bernard’s management experience spans major electrical and telecommunications projects.

Daniel Griffin,
Vice President, Special Projects Team Leader
Daniel Griffin has extensive field supervision and project management experience with Broadway Electrical, having served the Company in these capacities for numerous major projects, including Ray and Maria Stata Center at MIT, Harvard University Northwest Labs & Chiller Plant, MIT Brain Cognitive Center, Newton Wellesley Hospital, and Battery Wharf. A Broadway Electrical staff member for more than 25 years, he is certified in NECA continuing education courses that include Safety for Electrical Project Managers, Project Management, Business Organization and Development, Managing Field Productivity. A licensed journeyman electrician in Massachusetts and Connecticut, Mr. Griffin has an A.S in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.

Eric M. McHatton, Project Manager
Eric McHatton has more than 20 years project engineering and senior project management experience in electrical construction. Most recently, he has served as Broadway Electrical’s project manager on Harvard University’s Northwest Labs Tenant Improvements and Northwest Lab Chiller Plant projects. Eric was previously Vice President and Senior Project Manager at Norfolk Electric, Inc. He is a licensed journeyman electrician and has an education in Electrical Engineering at the University of Lowell.

Robert Bettle, Senior Estimator
Robert Bettle serves as a Senior Estimator as well as on Broadway Electrical’s Advisory Staff. He joined Broadway Electrical in 1957 and served as an Engineer/Estimator for 39 years, and also as a Project Manager. Educated at Wentworth Institute, Mr. Bettle is certified in numerous NECA Continuing Education courses, including Construction Law, Project Management, Safety for Electrical Project Managers, and Managing Field Productivity.

Robert Donovan, Outside Construction Supervisor
Robert Donovan serves as an Outside Construction Supervisor for Broadway Electrical, as well on the Company’s Advisory Staff. He has more than 30 years field experience supervising diverse Broadway Electrical projects.
