Electrical Project Scope

Broadway Electrical provided complete turnkey installation of 67kW Solar (PV) System, including design, supply and installation of all materials on the existing roof of the Salem State College Central Campus Residence Hall.

The design features the following products:

  1. Unirac SolarMount Rail Mounting System – A versatile extruded aluminum racking system complete with rails, mounting clips and clamps, L feet standoffs and stainless steel fasteners. The SolarMount Rail system are directly fastened to a pre-installed structurally secured unistrut bracing backbone.
  2. Solectria Inverters- Four Solectria inverters – the units are installed on the roof in the flat central pocket area ( QTY-3 PVI 15KW and Qty-1 PVI 13KW). The Solectria inverters have been positioned in locations with close proximity to their associated DC strings and combiner boxes. The multi-inverter locations service independent areas of the new solar array and provide redundancy, with exceptional quality and efficiency.
  3. The Suntech model STP270-24/VB-1 is the poly-crystalline solar cell panel we have incorporated into our system. This panel provides uniform string sizing and a symmetrical installation layout. The Suntech 270 functions to maximize the output of our Solectria inverters and have the capability of providing 270 watts of DC power per panel to the array.
  4. Our system data integrates through a web based Fat Spaniel monitoring system. This system provides a comprehensive array of data collection, inverter monitoring, power metering, communications networking and environmental assessment components, along with robust solutions for wired- and wireless communications, IT component failure detection, and end-to-end security. Fat Spaniel has a proven track record in the solar industry and showcases real-time production statistics. Views can be integrated into corporate Web sites or rendered in Adobe Flash™ for display on large-screen video in building lobbies or high-traffic areas.

The projected electricity generation from this system design is 75,945 kwh/year, which represents an energy value of $8,961.51 a year based on a rate of 11.8 cents per kilowatt hour.
